Review: Eden BodyWorks CoWash
Every so often a product comes along that makes you want to switch up your whole routine, just so you can use it more often. These gems, the venerable holy grails have the power to transform washday regimens from dreary to delightful. The bar is high. There are only a handful of products that I might sacrifice a limb for (literally pay and arm and a leg). Ladies, I just found another one for the list. Eden BodyWorks sent me its All Natural Cleansing CoWash to try—and I’m completely in LOVE! Right now, I’m hoarding my last bit until I can order more.
The directions are pretty basic and instruct users to apply the co-wash from the scalp to the ends. My cottony, dense hair is easier to manage in parts, so I divided my hair into four twisted sections. While twisted, I glopped it on, making sure each strand was coated, then massaged the CoWash down my hair shaft, using my fingertips. It melted into my hair like butter. I untangled each twist to comb the product through my curls. Pure. Hair. Magic. I’m talking supersonic slip. I stayed in the shower an extra ten minutes just playing in my tendrils.
This is one of the best co-washes I’ve ever tried at any price point. It knocks rinse out conditioners used to co-wash (like Aussie Moist) completely out of the box. I put it to the test with dirty tresses filled with stylers and ‘cones, and it left my hair was cleansed without feeling stripped. In fact, the Coconut Shea Cleansing CoWash imparted enough moisture to skip the creamy leave in conditioner. I’m extremely tender headed, and I was able to detangle without tears (yes, tears don’t judge me).
The generous 16 oz size netted about 8 uses of the product for my mid back length hair. I loved the sweet coconut scent, which made my shower feel like a tropical waterfall. The only drawback: limited availability. My local beauty supply store doesn’t stock the product, and I don’t live near a Walmart or Sallys. I have to order my refills online. Since it’s priced at an extremely attractive $8.99, I don’t mind coughing up the extra cash for shipping.
This budget-friendly co-wash is effective enough for to maintain a true conditioning wash only regimen. It removes residue and imparts moisture. I loved EdenBodyWorks All Natural Cleansing CoWash, and would recommend it to anyone interested in the Curly Girl method, especially those with tighter curls and coils. It’s my newest staple.
